Corrections policy

How to report an error to Token & Tech, how we review it and how corrections and updates are shown on our articles.

We try to get things right, and we correct what we get wrong, openly.

How to report an error

Use the contact form and choose Correction request. Include the link to the article, the passage you believe is wrong and, if possible, a source. You do not need to give a phone number.

What happens next

An editor reviews every correction request. If the error is confirmed, we fix the article and add a dated note to its revision history explaining what changed. We reply to the person who reported it by e-mail.

Types of change

  • Correction: a factual error was fixed. The note says what was wrong.
  • Update: new information was added after publication (for example, a regulation changed). The update date changes.
  • Clarification: the text was rewritten to avoid a misunderstanding, without a factual error.

Small fixes of spelling or formatting that do not change the meaning are not recorded.

Translations

When an error is corrected in one language, the other published translations of the same article are corrected too, and the note appears in each of them.

What we do not do

We do not silently change facts, we do not remove articles to hide errors, and we do not change an article because a company or person mentioned in it disliked it. If an article has to be removed for legal reasons, we say so in its place whenever we are allowed to.
